Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a soccer scoreboard overlay to OBS?

You can add a soccer scoreboard to OBS by using a browser-based tool like OBScoreboard. Simply create your scoreboard inside your OBScoreboard dashboard, click “Go Live”, copy the stream link, and paste it into OBS as a Browser Source. Set the width to 1920 and height to 1080, and your overlay will appear instantly.

Do I need to download anything to use OBScoreboard with OBS?

No, nothing needs to be downloaded. OBScoreboard is fully browser-based, so all you need is the URL it generates. You paste that link into OBS, and your scoreboard appears straight away.

Can I update the score in real time while streaming?

Yes. Once your overlay is live in OBS, you can update the score, timer, team colours, and other settings directly inside the OBScoreboard dashboard. The changes update instantly on your live stream without needing to refresh anything.

Can I control the scoreboard from my phone?

Absolutely. OBScoreboard lets you update scores and settings from any device, including your phone. This is especially handy if you’re pitchside or managing the stream solo.

How do I change the team names or colours after adding the overlay?

Just go back to your OBScoreboard dashboard. Update team names, colours, the current half, or any other settings, then click “Update”. OBS will reflect the changes automatically.

Why is my scoreboard not showing up in OBS?

The most common reasons are:
• You didn’t click “Go Live” in the top right hand corner.
• The link wasn’t copied correctly
• The Browser Source width/height isn’t set to 1920×1080
• The source is behind other layers in your OBS scene
Re-paste the link, check your dimensions, and drag the source to the top of the layer list if needed.

Can I use this with sports other than soccer?

Yes. OBScoreboard supports American football, rugby, GAA, basketball, tennis, padel, pickleball, pool, darts, and more. You simply select the sport when creating the overlay.

Can I add more than just a scoreboard?

You can. OBScoreboard also includes team formations, lower thirds, announcement bars and more. All of these can be added to the same stream link.

Does the overlay work with other streaming software besides OBS?

Yes. Any platform that supports Browser Sources will work. This includes vMix, Streamlabs, Wirecast, and even hardware devices like YoloBox.

Do I need a powerful PC to run a scoreboard overlay?

No. Because the scoreboard is rendered in the browser, your computer barely uses any extra resources. If OBS can run on your machine, the overlay will run fine too.

Can I move the scoreboard to a different position?

Yes. Inside OBScoreboard, click the position icon in the scoreboard layer. You can drag it around, snap it to corners, or place it anywhere on the pitch view that suits your broadcast.

Will the scoreboard keep working if I lose internet connection?

If OBS has already loaded the overlay once, it will continue displaying it. However, live updates (like score changes) won’t come through until your connection is restored, but this will also mean your stream has gone down so it’s a lose lose.

Can two people control the scoreboard at the same time?

Yes. You can share the remote control link so another person can update scores while someone else operates OBS. It’s ideal for clubs with media volunteers helping during matches.
